Behr Academy

Behr Pro wanted to create a series of YouTube videos which could help unpack complex paint theories for their current business customers and aspiring professional painters.

We approached the inquiry from the lens of the painter... pragmatic with a touch of creativity. How would they enjoy receiving this information? How could we make it just as entertaining as it is educational. How could we use metaphors to drive home the complexity of the information? How could we make it feel different than what would be expected with most paint brands?

We applied our interests in education and our childlike curiosity to the task and came up with something everyone was proud to share.

What are volume solids? When paint dries, pigment and resin are left behind. These two items are commonly referred to as volume solids. Find out why not all solids are created equal.

When choosing a paint color, an important factor to consider is the lighting and environment where the color will be applied. Take a look at how different light sources can affect color.

While all paint brands offer white paint, some paints are toned to achieve different properties. If white paint has been toned, it is no longer “clean” white. This video explains the “dirty truth” behind toned paint.
